The Mossos d'Esquadra deployed a police operation on Thursday afternoon in El Vendrell and Calafell that resulted in five arrests, 22 administrative complaints, and the identification of 92 people. The operation took place between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM as part of the Daga-Kanpai Plan against repeat offenses and bladed weapons.
The outcome included a statistic that concentrated a large part of the intervention: those 92 identified individuals had a combined total of 184 prior police records. At the same time, only three of the 22 reports filed corresponded to possession of bladed weapons, while sixteen were for drug possession.
The operation resulted in five arrests and 22 reports between El Vendrell and Calafell
The Citizen Security Unit of the El Vendrell police station, the local police forces of El Vendrell and Calafell, the National Police, the private security of the train stations in Baix Penedès, and the ARRO of the Mossos participated in the operation.
Three of the arrested individuals had active judicial arrest warrants. The other two were arrested for an alleged drug trafficking offense.
Furthermore, the National Police arrested one person for violating the Foreigners Law.
Among the 22 administrative complaints, sixteen reports were for drug possession and three for possession of bladed weapons. The remainder included a complaint for disrespect to authority and another for allowing drug consumption in an establishment.
One driver registered 1.10 milligrams and two were driving without a license
The operation also included traffic checks in the two municipalities of Baix Penedès. During these inspections, officers detected a driver with an alcohol level of 1.10 milligrams per liter of exhaled air.
In addition to that case, six vehicles without a valid technical inspection (ITV) and two drivers without a license were detected. Officers also reported one person for driving without a seatbelt.
The Mossos d'Esquadra frame these types of operations within the Daga-Kanpai Plan, aimed at combating repeat offenses and the presence of bladed weapons in public spaces. The force indicates that it seeks to combat activities linked to criminal and administrative offenses and to increase the sense of security among residents.
The intervention took place over six hours, between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM, with police presence in El Vendrell, Calafell, and the train stations of Baix Penedès.
