The Catalan Water Agency will finance 54 projects to improve high-level supply in the Tarragona demarcation with a significant portion of the latest call for aid. The municipalities of Tarragona will receive 9.3 million euros, 34% of the 27 million mobilized in total.

The distribution comes after a summer in which about 300 families in the urbanization of La Cativera, in El Catllar, only had two hours of supply per day due to the collapse of a well. The paradox is that the demarcation concentrates more than a third of the call's funds while several municipalities continue to depend on actions that have yet to be executed.

La Conca de Barberà captures almost 3.9 million for the second phase

The main allocation in Tarragona corresponds to the Consell Comarcal de la Conca de Barberà, which will receive almost 3.9 million euros. Of that amount, 3.78 million will be allocated to the second phase of the high-level supply project for several municipalities, with a global budget of over 4.5 million.

In addition, the call reserves 88,240 euros for the drafting of the project for the third phase. The aid incorporates for the first time the subsidy for the elaboration of construction projects, a requirement with which the ACA wants to reduce unforeseen events before tendering and executing the works.

Sílvia Paneque, Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, linked this line to the need to reinforce local response capacity in episodes of scarcity. The minister framed the call within the objective of increasing available resources and enabling local entities to gain autonomy in supply.

"The Government's commitment to increase water availability and enable local entities to take a further step towards water self-sufficiency" - Sílvia Paneque, Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, Generalitat de Catalunya

La Pobla de Montornès, Miami Platja and Horta de Sant Joan add new works

Along with the regional project, the call will finance specific actions in different parts of the demarcation. La Pobla de Montornès will receive 504,861 euros to connect to the CAT network.

In Baix Camp, Miami Platja will have 766,150 euros to build a new drinking water regulation tank. Horta de Sant Joan, in Terra Alta, will obtain 259,687 euros for the second phase of a storage pond.

Paneque also highlighted that the ACA has doubled the planned allocation from 13 to 27 million to incorporate the maximum number of applications submitted. The Catalan Water Agency will maintain in future calls the condition of financing only works that arrive with a sufficiently defined construction project.

"The ACA's investment effort, which has doubled the initially planned budgetary allocation, going from 13 to 27 million, with the aim of accommodating the maximum number of applications submitted" - Sílvia Paneque, Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, Generalitat de Catalunya

The call includes for the Conca de Barberà a sum of 88,240 euros intended exclusively for drafting the third phase of the project, a preliminary step that until now was not included in the subsidy.
