Tarragona loses a shoe store open since 1928 after three generations of the same family

The shoe store Las Américas, located at number 6 Unió street in Tarragona, will close permanently after the retirement of the owning family. The establishment thus puts an end to a trajectory started in 1928 and linked for decades to local commerce in the city center.

The announcement was made public last April 16 through the business's Instagram account, where the family communicated the end of an era after having maintained the activity for almost a century.

A historic business in the center of Tarragona

Las Américas has been one of the traditional establishments on Unió street. The shoe store has been managed by three generations of the same family, which is now leaving the business due to retirement, a reason that has been pointed out as the cause of the definitive closure.

In the message released to communicate the decision, the family defined the store as "a meeting point, of trust, of shared stories", a reference to the bond maintained with the clientele over the years.

End of an stage after almost one hundred years of activity

With this closure, a business open since 1928 disappears, on one of Tarragona's most central streets. The farewell of Las Américas means the end of an activity sustained for decades by the same family saga, which has been at the helm of the establishment over three generations.

The decision leaves the shutter about to definitively come down in an emblematic premises for several generations of residents and regular customers of the center of Tarragona, after almost one hundred years of continuous activity.
