Reus celebrates until Sunday the 30th edition of Fira Trapezi with a program focused on contemporary circus and with the premiere of Pífia, by the company Totapedra, as one of the highlights of this start. The Parc de la Festa hosts a tent and two stages prepared for the first performance of the work.
The event combines a festive street atmosphere with an extensive professional agenda. While the L'Elefant del Trapezi parade paraded through Plaça del Mercadal this Friday alongside the clown duo Martini&Manzani, the fair insists on presenting circus as a contemporary and diverse artistic discipline, far from traditional imagery.
Parc de la Festa hosts the premiere of Pífia after three years of work
Totapedra arrives in Reus with a production that addresses hierarchy and individual freedom. The company has developed Pífia over the last three years and this Friday's performance marks its first showing within the fair.
Artist Andreu Casadellà participates in this premiere, linking his presence at Trapezi with the timing of the show's release.
"It is an opportunity to give a boost to the show at the moment it is needed, as is the case with the premiere" - Andreu Casadellà, artist
The installation of a tent and two stages in Parc de la Festa concentrates a part of this edition's program. The format allows for the hosting of stage productions and shows designed for a broader deployment than that of the urban spaces in the center.
The fair brings together 60 companies and offers 82 performances with 10 showcases
The 30th edition of Trapezi brings together 60 companies from Catalonia, Spain, and internationally. The program includes 82 performances and 10 showcases spread until Sunday, with the presence of both shows open to the public and activities aimed at the sector.
In addition to the artistic program, the fair maintains Trapezi Pro Catalan Arts as a professional space. The organization reserves this area for companies and cultural agents to generate alliances and share knowledge in parallel to the performances.
This Friday, one of the most visible moments in the center of Reus was the passage of L'Elefant del Trapezi through Plaça del Mercadal. The parade, accompanied by Martini&Manzani, connected the street program with the start of a weekend in which the fair will remain active until Sunday.
The complete programming for this 30th edition includes 82 performances and 10 showcases by 60 companies from Catalonia, Spain, and internationally.
