Reus has updated its Vocational Training Catalog for the 2026-2027 academic year with two notable additions to the offerings linked to Mas Carandell. The main novelty is a medium-level training cycle in Funeral Services at the Institut Gaudí, which will be taught in collaboration with Funecamp.

The update once again places the city in an unusual position within Catalan vocational training, as Reus and Terrassa are the two pioneers in Catalonia with an accredited offering in this field. The catalog also adds a new level two professional certificate in Pest and Nuisance Organism Control Service.

The Institut Gaudí will teach the new medium-level Funeral Services degree

The catalog update was presented within the framework of the Reus Vocational Training Council. This body, established in 2022 and driven by the Department of Education and the Department of Business and Employment, works with the objective of aligning training offerings with the needs of the territory.

In this update, the new Funeral Services cycle is incorporated into the Institut Gaudí with the collaboration of Funecamp. The city thus consolidates an accredited training line that, within Catalonia, is currently only shared by Reus and Terrassa.

Òscar Subirats, councilor for Business, Training, and Employment, linked the catalog expansion to vocational training's capacity to respond to both business demand and student placement.

"Talking about vocational training is talking about the future, social cohesion, and shared prosperity. Reus needs more and better vocational training so that people can build dignified life projects and so that the productive sector has the talent it requires" - Òscar Subirats, councilor for Business, Training, and Employment, Reus City Council

Subirats added that collaboration between administration, training centers, and the economic sector allows for the expansion of qualification opportunities in the city. In his speech, he advocated for an offering that facilitates stability and progress for the population of Reus.

Mas Carandell will organize a pest control certificate in September

In addition to the new medium-level degree, Mas Carandell will launch a level two professional certificate in Pest and Nuisance Organism Control Service in September. The training will take place at the facilities of the Institut d'Horticultura i Jardineria.

The private offering included in the catalog adds four professional certificates. It includes Lifeguarding in Aquatic Facilities, level two, Auxiliary operations for the assembly and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, level one, Microcomputer systems, level two, and Auxiliary operations for the assembly and maintenance of microcomputer systems, also level one.

The catalog update work is part of the IMFE Mas Carandell AODL plan. The project is subsidized by the Servei Públic d'Ocupació de Catalunya and co-financed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy and the State Public Employment Service.

From now on, the document can be consulted in digital format and will also be distributed on paper in educational centers, civic centers, and other reference spaces for the citizens of Reus.
