The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested two brothers, aged 24 and 33, in Reus as alleged perpetrators of several burglaries committed in recent weeks in different parts of the city. The investigation places them in at least three assaults recorded between May 15 and 24 in the Mestral civic center, in the Gaudí neighborhood, a restaurant establishment on Saragossa Avenue, and a school on Boca de la Mina promenade.

The criminal sequence was concentrated in just ten days and ended with four arrests of the same two suspects, a fact that reflects the intensity of the activity that investigators attribute to them. The arrested individuals, moreover, already had police records when the officers closed in on them.

A patrol surprised them on May 17 on Doctor Vilaseca Avenue

The progress of the investigation made it possible to link these events with another robbery committed on May 17 in a premises on Doctor Vilaseca Avenue. There, a patrol surprised the two men as they were trying to flee the establishment.

They were carrying cash, a mobile phone, and cosmetic products that, according to the investigation, they had just stolen. The items were in bags they had filled inside the premises.

Since that episode, the Mossos d'Esquadra have connected this case with other recent assaults in Reus, including those committed in the Mestral civic center and the school located on Boca de la Mina promenade.

The assaults caused damage to doors and locks of several properties

The investigations indicate that the suspects accessed the properties by forcing doors and locks. The robberies caused significant material damage to the entrances of the affected buildings.

Their modus operandi was repeated, especially in the early morning, when there was less presence of people on the public highway. The investigation attributes to the two brothers the intention of selling the stolen items to obtain money quickly.

Between May 15 and 24, investigators have linked them to three assaults in facilities and businesses in different areas of the city, from the Gaudí neighborhood to Saragossa Avenue.

The two arrested individuals were detained four times in ten days and have already been brought before the judicial authorities at the on-duty court in Reus.
