The demarcation of Tarragona has reached 97 startups in 2025, 18.3% more than the previous year. These companies provide jobs to 800 people and consolidate an ecosystem with growing weight in sectors linked to business services, software, and technology applied to health.
The figures were released this Tuesday in Reus, during the fifth day of the ACCIÓ ON 2026 cycle, held at firaReus events. The announcement was made by the secretari d'Empresa i Competitivitat, Jaume Baró, at an event focused on the evolution of the entrepreneurial fabric and new tools to support companies.
Business services, health and media among the sectors with more presence
The startup map in Tarragona shows a notable concentration in activities of business services and software, which represent 16% of the total. Health technology has that same weight, while advertising technology and media account for 8%.
The distribution confirms the presence of projects linked both to the digitalization of processes and to the development of technological solutions in specialized fields. The growth in the number of companies is also reflected in the employment linked to this segment, with 800 workers in the entire demarcation.
New instruments of business support
During the day, new instruments have also been presented in the areas of internationalization, innovation, and business strategy. Among the announced measures is the creation of a specific program to incorporate artificial intelligence into companies.
The objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of Tarragona's business fabric at a time of expansion of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and greater commitment to technological tools with direct application in economic activity.
