The Reus City Council extended this Friday the execution period of the third phase of the redevelopment works in the surroundings of Ample street. The Local Government Board validated the extension that extends the completion date until July 12.
The decision modifies the initial calendar that foresaw the conclusion of the works on May 12th. The municipal technical services justify the change due to the need to adapt the work plan to the commercial activity of the area and to technical unforeseen events.
Hidden services slow down the pace of work
The detection of infrastructures not foreseen in the original project has conditioned the progress of the works. The presence of electrical prisms from Fecsa-Endesa at a very superficial level in plaça de la Llibertat and plaça del pintor Fortuny forced the application of complex technical solutions.
These findings slowed the pace of execution at strategic points of the pedestrian itinerary. The local administration assures that the measure seeks to make the urban intervention compatible with the economic dynamics of the old town.
The council maintains the intention of freeing up spaces as sections are completed. Some areas will finish before the new temporary deadline and the technical team will evaluate their provisional acceptance to open them to the public as soon as possible.
