The 14th edition of the Cursa de les Dones de Reus will be held on Sunday, May 3, with more than 3,300 participants, after exhausting all available bib numbers and incorporating another 100 that were put into circulation last week. To that figure are also added 300 children's bib numbers for the junior races.
The start will again be located in the plaza de la Llibertat, from where a 5-kilometer route through the city streets will begin. The organization also maintains the charitable component of the event, as the funds raised will be allocated to the Lliga Contra el Càncer de les Comarques de Tarragona i Terres de l"Ebre and to the Servei d"Epidemiologia i Prevenció del Càncer del Hospital Universitari Sant Joan de Reus.
Bib collection at La Palma de Reus
The collection of bib, t-shirt and welcome bag will be done on Friday May 1 and Saturday May 2 between 10:00 and 20:00 hours in the Palma de Reus, with access via Tívoli street. The distribution will be concentrated only on those two days and it will be allowed to delegate the collection.
"All registered women will receive an email with the specific instructions" - event organization
The organization reminds that there will be no delivery of bibs outside of those days. The high demand has once again marked this edition, which aims to exceed the collection achieved last year, when 38.441,51 euros were reached.
Bib 0 and solidarity programming of Reus és Rosa
Solidarity financial contributions remain open through Bib Number 0 on the website cursadonesreus.cat. With a contribution of 12 euros, the Reus és Rosa bracelet is obtained.
The parallel program of Reus és Rosa will return on Saturday, May 2. The Centre Cívic Gregal will host in the morning a series of talks on women's health. At 10:30, the epidemiology and prevention of cancer in women will be addressed. At 11:00, menopause and nutrition will be discussed. At 11:45, emotional well-being. And at 12:30, the voluntary and solidarity action of La Lliga will be presented.
In the afternoon, the Llibertat square will host a solidarity evening gathering with music and a playful atmosphere between 18:30 and 22:00 hours. During that time slot, the solidarity cup can be acquired, whose proceeds will be entirely allocated to the cause.
Schedules of the day and distribution by drawers
On race day, the children's races will start at 10:00 hours with three distances according to age. There will be a 300-meter course for the youngest, another of 500 for the intermediate group and one of 800 for the oldest.
After the warm-up in the Plaça de la Llibertat, the distribution by corrals will be made. Corral 1 will be for those who expect to go under 35 minutes. Corral 2, for times between 36 and 45 minutes. Corral 3, for more than 46 minutes. At 11:00 a.m. the start of the Cursa will be given.
Thirteen awards on arrival
The trophy ceremony will recognize the first three to cross the finish line and also the fastest runner under 20 years old, from 20 to 35 years old and, from 35 onwards, a winner by age groups of 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65 years old, in addition to the oldest participant.
In total, 13 prizes will be awarded in an event that will once again turn the center of Reus into the setting for one of the most multitudinous popular races on the local calendar, with the sporting objective and also with an eye on once again breaking the solidarity ceiling of the collection.
