A pedestrian died this Wednesday afternoon at kilometer 1.8 of the T 750 highway, in the municipality of La Pobla de Mafumet, after a tanker truck lost control inside the Polígon Químic, hit the perimeter fence, and ended up running over the victim while they were on the public road.
The accident report was received around a quarter to six in the afternoon. The Servei Català de Trànsit has reported that the causes of the accident are under investigation.
The truck left the premises and reached the victim
According to the initial data, the tanker truck lost control inside the Polígon Químic complex. It then impacted the perimeter fence and ended up invading the exterior space, where it ran over the pedestrian. The victim died as a result of the impact.
To the place moved four patrols of the Mossos d'Esquadra, a crew from Bombers de la Generalitat and units from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques, who intervened in the emergency.
Investigation opened into the causes
The Mossos and the rest of the acting services are working to clarify what caused the loss of control of the heavy vehicle. For now, no further details have emerged about the specific circumstances in which the accident occurred.
With this victim, there are now 31 people who have lost their lives in traffic accidents on Catalan roads since the beginning of the year. Among them are 13 motorcyclists, 3 cyclists, and 4 pedestrians, according to the report released by Trànsit.
The accident has once again focused attention on road accidents on the Catalan network on a day marked by the mobilization of emergency personnel in La Pobla de Mafumet.
