Vila-seca has launched a new water regulation reservoir north of the urban center after 20 months of work and an investment of 9.16 million euros, co-financed 50% by the Catalan Water Agency. The facility, managed by the Tarragona Water Consortium, can store 25,000 cubic meters of drinking water.
The work comes in a context where supply planning is gaining importance due to the risk of service interruptions. The new facility ensures 24-hour water supply to the consortium members of Baix Camp and Tarragonès in case of a network incident.

The enclosure occupies 5,300 square meters and has been built with a rectangular floor plan of 85 by 62 meters and an approximate height of five meters. The infrastructure has been located north of Vila-seca, in an area designed to reinforce flow regulation.
With this addition, the Tarragona Water Consortium adds 46 regulation reservoirs distributed throughout its network. The entity usually places them in elevated locations to improve distribution and the system's response to incidents.
Marc Brunet, president of the CAT, framed the work within the need to anticipate supply problems.

The ACA links the work to the continuity of essential services
The Catalan Water Agency has financed half of the project's investment. During the inauguration, Lluís Sastre, territorial director of the agency in Tarragona, pointed out that the climate emergency forces a rethinking of water management strategy with more efficiency, intelligence, and adaptability.
Sastre specified that the Government's objective, through the Department of Territory, is to ensure the continuity of essential supply and sanitation services in extreme situations for at least 24 hours.
Pere Segura, mayor of Vila-seca, also spoke, advocating for cooperation between administrations in this type of action. The mayor maintained that when institutions cooperate, public service gains solidity.
In addition to the commissioning of the reservoir, the city council is working on a new project for the same site with the intention of improving the distribution of low-pressure drinking water within the municipality.
The new facility can store 25,000 cubic meters of drinking water and is part of a work carried out over 20 months in the municipality of Vila-seca.
