The Mossos d"Esquadra arrested on the night of Saturday, April 18, a 45-year-old man in Plaça de les Oques in Reus after he was seen wandering around the area armed with a dagger and an air revolver without real firing capacity. The alert arrived around 11:15 PM via the 112 emergency phone number.
Given the situation, the agents deployed a security perimeter at this point in the city to avoid risks while they located the individual. The operation was activated after several alerts that warned of the presence of an armed man in the public street.
Restraint and detention on the public road
During the intervention, the Mossos proceeded to subdue the suspect after he pulled out a dagger he was carrying hidden in his pockets. The police action allowed the situation to be controlled without any reported injuries.
The detainee was accused as alleged perpetrator of a crime of threats, illegal possession of weapons and resistance and disobedience to agents of authority. The other object seized was an air pistol, although without real firing capacity.
No injuries in the incident
The incident concluded without personal injuries, despite the tension generated in the plaza de les Oques at that time of night. The rapid creation of the perimeter and the subsequent subduing of the man prevented the incident from escalating in a very busy area of Reus.
