The abandoned block of La Pastoreta, in Reus, has been definitively closed after a week of operations in the area. The operation has allowed to evict the occupants and wall up the accesses of a building that had been dragging a conflict for the last ten years.
A week of performances in the building
The intervention has been carried out with the participation of the Reus City Council, the Tarragona Court of First Instance and the Urban Guard. During these days, individualized notifications have been executed to the people who were in the property and a progressive exit of the occupants has been developed.
The operation has been completed with surveillance in the surroundings to ensure the progress of the actions and prevent new accesses while the closure of the block was being carried out.
Sealing of accesses and closure of the car park
Once the building was emptied, the operators proceeded to board up the entry points. The most relevant step has been the definitive closure of the parking lot door, considered the main access route to the interior of the block.
With this action, the administrations involved declare finished a process that had become an entrenched problem in La Pastoreta. The conflict had lasted for a decade and had required a coordinated action to complete the closure of the property.
The closure puts an end, at least for now, to the occupation of the building and leaves the block sealed under municipal and police surveillance at this point in Reus.
