Repsol Tarragona: elimination of structural positions and more workload amidst millionaire profits

The works councils of Repsol Fuels Tarragona and Repsol Materials Tarragona have called this Friday early in the morning a gathering at the industrial complex of Tarragona to show their rejection of the restructuring proposed by the company's management.

The mobilization has taken place in the deterrent car park of the south gate of the industrial complex, in a peaceful protest with which the representation of the workers has wanted to make visible the discomfort of the staff regarding the new organizational model.

Joint response to the restructuring

The committees maintain that it is necessary to articulate a joint response to the measures proposed by the management. In their assessment, the planned reorganization directly affects working conditions and employment within the Tarragona facilities.

Among the criticisms conveyed by the social side is the complaint that these measures imply the elimination of structural jobs and, at the same time, an increase in the workload for the rest of the staff.

Protest without symbols nor flags

The gathering has taken place without incidents and without symbols or flags, in line with the approach set by the committees to focus the message on the rejection of the internal reorganization and on its possible effects on employment and daily activity.

The workers' representatives also frame this situation in a context of millionaire profits for the company, an element that, in their opinion, reinforces the rejection of the measures now proposed by the management. The protest has thus served to make visible, from the industrial complex itself in Tarragona, the opposition of the workforce to the new organizational scheme.
