The Tarragona City Council has awarded the works for the future Walk of Fame on Rambla Nova, an intervention linked to the pedestrianization of the section closest to the Balcó del Mediterrani. The action will be carried out on the sides between Roger de Llúria and Girona streets.
The work has a tight schedule because completion is planned for early July, coinciding with the Tour de France passing through the city. The project will not only change mobility at that point on Rambla Nova, but also its image with an artistic pavement dedicated to historical figures and symbols of Tarragona.
Arnó Infraestructuras will carry out the work for 159,194.71 euros
The contract has been awarded to Arnó Infraestructuras with an execution budget of 159,194.71 euros. In the coming weeks, the preliminary work on the current pavement will begin.
Then will come the most visible phase of the intervention. The painting of the decorative motifs is planned for June, as part of an action that will transform the sides of this section into a pedestrian space.
Edu Polo designs an urban carpet with 28 characters and symbols of Tarragona
The project is signed by Edu Polo and will turn the ground into an urban carpet of sepia color, inspired by modernist hydraulic tiles. The new pavement will incorporate graphic compositions with 28 characters and identifying elements of the city.
Among these references are Santa Tecla, Emperor Augustus, Maginet Pelacanyes, and Minerva. The design seeks to concentrate some of the most recognizable icons of the local imagination in the same section.
Next to the Balcó del Mediterrani, the route will include another set of its own motifs. The final end will feature the word Naltros, the municipal coat of arms, and two fisherwomen holding a net.
