A man died on Thursday night, April 9, at the doors of the Parc Central shopping center, in Tarragona, after emergency services tried to revive him without success. The call to 112 came in shortly after 9:00 p.m. and mobilized several units to Cardenal Vidal i Barraquer street.
To the scene were dispatched three patrols of the Mossos d'Esquadra, two ambulances from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques and a vehicle from the Guàrdia Urbana of Tarragona. Upon their arrival, the medical teams attended to the victim, although finally they could not save his/her life.
Investigation open awaiting the autopsy
The investigation has remained in the hands of the Mossos d'Esquadra, who will have to clarify the circumstances of the death. At first, the situation led to believe that the man could be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, although that first impression does not determine for now the cause of death.
Pending the autopsy, one of the possibilities being considered is a natural death. It will be the forensic study that must accurately certify what caused the death.
Deployment of emergencies in the surroundings of Parc Central
The intervention focused on the area around the access to the shopping center, in one of the city's busiest areas at that time. The Guàrdia Urbana also attended to provide support during the operation of the emergency services and the Catalan police.
The Mossos keep the proceedings open while the forensic results are awaited, which will be decisive in closing the first unknowns about a death that occurred in the middle of a public road, next to Parc Central.
