The strike called this Tuesday in the educational centers of Terrassa left a very high turnout at the Institut Escola Feixes, where more than 80% of the student body did not attend class. The majority of the teaching staff at the center also supported the stoppage and went to the demonstration called in Barcelona.
The protest comes after the educational community rejected the pact signed two months ago by the Government with CCOO and UGT. That disagreement keeps the mobilization open despite the agreement reached with two unions and has led to a new day of strike already scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, throughout Vallès Occidental.
The Institut Escola Feixes registered an absence of more than 80% of the student body
The follow-up at Institut Escola Feixes was visible from the first hour. More than 80% of the student body did not attend class on a day marked by the strike in the educational centers of Terrassa.
At the same time, the majority of the center's teaching staff joined the strike. A portion of the teaching staff attended the demonstration held in Barcelona, as part of the call launched for this Tuesday.
Education summoned the sectoral table while the May 19 call continues
The response from the Departament d'Educació has arrived with a new meeting convened for this Thursday with the sectoral table. The meeting will be held while the following protest day, scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, throughout Vallès Occidental, remains active.
Terrassa was thus integrated into a calendar of mobilizations that does not end with Tuesday's strike. The conflict remains focused on the rejection expressed by the educational community to the pact that the Government closed two months ago with CCOO and UGT.
The next protest day is called for Tuesday, May 19 throughout Vallès Occidental.
