The educational sector of the demarcation of Tarragona will begin this Thursday a new round of protests that expands the calendar of mobilizations against the labor policy of the Government. Tension increases after the concentration carried out on Wednesday by union delegates in front of the territorial services of the Department of Education.

The representatives frontally reject the agreement reached by the regional executive with CC.OO. and UGT. They consider that the pact ignores the formations that group together 80 percent of the educational community and excludes their voices from the negotiation table.

The 0-3 platform joins the protests for the first time

The mobilization this Thursday will gain visibility with the unprecedented incorporation of the 0-3 platform. Its members will gather at 12 noon in the Font de Tarragona square. The route will end at the Government Sub-delegation, located on Imperial street.

"It does not represent us" - Noé Muñiz, representative of USTEC

Noé Muñiz, from USTEC, explained that they held an informal meeting with the director of territorial services in Tarragona. Their objective was to convey directly to her that the signed agreement does not have their endorsement nor that of the majority of the teaching staff.

Traffic cuts to generate economic impact

The pressure on the administration will continue in the afternoon. The assembly of educational staff of Baix Camp and Tarragonès has called for a traffic stoppage at 5:30 PM at the access to Les Gavarres. This action seeks to complement the strikes and cause a visible economic impact.

The schedule of strikes extends beyond this week. The regions of Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre have new mobilizations planned for May 21 and June 3.

The first day of a unitary strike with direct impact on classrooms throughout Catalonia will be next Tuesday. General stoppages will follow on May 27 and June 5.

The unions have warned that they expect the reopening of negotiations with the Department. If the current measures are not sufficient, they have assured that they will not consider the academic year over.
