The Rialb reservoir will receive this summer a 960-meter zip line that connects the municipalities of La Baronia de Rialb and Tiurana. The infrastructure flies over the water surface at a height of 30 meters with a drop of almost 200 meters.
The installation will allow users to reach speeds greater than 130 kilometers per hour during the descent. The starting point is located at the Roca Carbonera viewpoint, in the nucleus of Vilaplana, at an altitude of 550 meters. The arrival is planned at the Centre d'Activitats Nàutiques.
Investment exceeds two hundred thousand euros
The Segre-Rialb Consortium is promoting this project with an economic allocation of 200,000 euros. The Provincial Council finances the work through aid aimed at the demographic challenge. The initiative seeks to boost the local economy within a broader plan to create an inland nautical station.
The construction will generate six direct jobs.
Access to the activity is not limited to air travel. Users will be able to reach the Tiurana pier and take an electric catamaran that will take them to the nautical center. Antoni Reig, mayor of La Baronia de Rialb, detailed that this maritime connection completes the proposal along with the sports facilities.

Mayors highlight social impact
Genís Villarte, mayor of Tiurana, linked the work with the recent history of his municipality. He pointed out that the construction of the reservoir reduced labor and social opportunities, especially affecting the young population. He considers that this new infrastructure can help reverse that historical trend.
The zip line will operate on weekends throughout the year. During holiday periods, the service will be available daily. The start of operations currently depends on the resolution of the last pending administrative procedures.
