L'Energètica has begun the works to install a photovoltaic plant of 1.38 MW of peak power at the Hospital Universitari Sant Joan de Reus. The action will occupy 5,580 square meters of the center's roofs with 2,894 solar panels.

The installation will only cover 10% of the hospital's electrical consumption, despite all the energy generated remaining for the equipment itself. The plant will produce 1,839,300 kWh per year and will reduce CO2 emissions by 443 tons annually.

The project is executed in one of the main health facilities of Camp de Tarragona and is integrated into L'Energètica's strategy to expand renewable generation in public buildings of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

On the roofs, 2,894 solar panels will be installed.

The infrastructure will have a peak power of 1.38 MW and all the electricity it produces will be consumed by the Hospital Universitari Sant Joan de Reus itself. The objective is to reduce a part of the center's electrical demand with generation on the same premises.

Investment reaches 965,176 euros and receives ERDF 2021-2027 funds

The action has an investment of 965,176 euros and is co-financed with the European Regional Development Funds of Catalonia for the period 2021-2027. The work is part of L'Energètica's roadmap to extend this model to other public buildings.

The plant will avoid 443 tons of CO2 per year.

L'Energètica has linked this intervention to its strategy to take advantage of 1,400 rooftops of the Generalitat de Catalunya in the production of green energy. In the case of Reus, the installation will contribute 1,839,300 kWh annually to the hospital.

The performance at the Sant Joan de Reus University Hospital is part of the plan to use 1,400 rooftops of the Generalitat de Catalunya to generate green energy.
