Cambrils will host this Saturday the fifth edition of the Swim for ELA solidarity crossing, an open water swimming event that will link the port of Calafat, in L'Ametlla de Mar, with the Port of Cambrils along nearly 23 kilometers.
The event will mobilize 350 swimmers divided into 50 teams, in addition to dozens of volunteers and support boats, on a day that combines a route of between six and eight hours with a fundraising total that already exceeds 448,000 euros for ELA research and patient care.
The start will kick off at eight and the arrival changes this year to the Escales Reials
The start is scheduled for eight in the morning from Calafat. From there, the teams will cover the route in relays and will always keep one swimmer in the water until they reach Cambrils.
This year, the organization has moved the participants' arrival to the Escales Reials. The change will concentrate a good part of the planned activities for the day at that final point.
In addition to the main crossing, Cambrils will also host the third Reus-Cambrils Solidarity Walk, which will start from the Santuari de Misericòrdia in Reus and will also end at the Escales Reials.
The 2025 edition has already exceeded 117,000 euros raised
The initiative maintains its solidarity objective in favor of ELA research and care for affected individuals. Since its creation, it has raised more than 448,000 euros through the different editions of the event.
In the 2025 call, the fundraising already exceeds 117,000 euros. The organization will follow the crossing live through twitch.tv/gamesportselectronics.
Next to the finish line, the day will include a hot chocolate, batucada, zumba session, tastings, and children's games to accompany the arrival of the swimmers and the participants in the walk.
The sporting event will maintain only one swimmer from each team in the water throughout the entire route, in a continuous effort of between six and eight hours between L'Ametlla de Mar and Cambrils.
