The Guardia Urbana arrested a man on Lluís Companys street in Lleida for allegedly assaulting his partner with a broken piece of glass inside an ATM around 6:00 AM. The woman suffered a deep cut on her leg and hemorrhaged before an SEM ambulance took her to Arnau de Vilanova hospital.
The attack occurred in a space where both were staying in a vulnerable situation. While the victim was admitted to be operated on for a ruptured artery, the figures for the regions of Lleida continue to show an increase in complaints of habitual physical and psychological violence and mistreatment in the home environment.
A sock stopped the hemorrhage before the arrival of the SEM
Several citizens who were passing through the area assisted the woman before the arrival of emergency services. They applied a tourniquet with a sock and called 112 upon seeing the abundant blood loss.
Afterwards, the SEM evacuated the victim to the Arnau de Vilanova hospital. There she was admitted for surgery due to a ruptured artery.
In the operation, patrols from the Guardia Urbana and the Mossos d'Esquadra acted. The arrested person was accused of gender violence and damages for smashing the glass of the bank office.
Lleida's regions closed the year with 107 complaints, 9% more
The case arrives in a context of an increase in reports of habitual physical and psychological violence in the regions of Lleida. The Mossos d'Esquadra registered 107 incidents of this type last year, 9% more than in the previous year.
The evolution is not limited to that indicator. In the province, in 2025 there are 508 complaints for mistreatment in the home environment, 2% more than in 2024.
Since 2020, the records for habitual physical and psychological violence total 517 incidents in the area. If we broaden the view to domestic violence as a whole, the province has accumulated 2,914 complaints in the last five years.
The aggression investigated occurred inside an ATM on Lluís Companys street, where the couple, made up of two middle-aged people, was spending the night.
