A young man has been recorded while descending down the Francolí river on a float in the shape of a black tire in Tarragona. The video of the scene has been spread on social media and shows an unusual sight in the final stretch of this river course, which normally has very little flow or directly remains dry.
A striking episode after the intense rains
The images were recorded weeks ago, after several episodes of intense rain in the city and its surroundings. The accumulation of rainfall allowed the Francolí's flow to recover, an exceptional circumstance in its final stretch and which left an unusual scene next to the mouth.
In that context, the young man took advantage of the presence of water in the riverbed to let himself be carried by the current, riding on a black float with the appearance of a wheel. The scene has since circulated on social media, where it has attracted attention precisely because it occurred at a point where it is not common to see water flowing with such continuity.
A final stretch of the river that is usually dry
The Francolí flows into the Port of Tarragona and its state in the lower part of the riverbed is usually very different from what the images reflect. The increase in flow occurred after the accumulated rainfall in weeks of intense rains, which returned water to a usually dry stretch.
The dissemination of the video has revived attention on the behavior of the river after storms and on the unusual scenes that these episodes leave in Tarragona, with a Francolí that, for a few days, once again showed a very different image from the one habitually known by the residents of the area.
