The Mossos d'Esquadra have dismantled a marijuana plantation in a Santa Bàrbara home in an operation carried out by the Amposta Investigation Unit with the collaboration of municipal guards. The operation concluded last Tuesday with the arrest of a 35-year-old woman, investigated for an alleged crime against public health and another for electricity fraud.

The investigation started after detecting a water leak

The investigations began on April 14, when the municipal guards located a water leak in the property. From that incident, the police investigation was launched, which allowed verifying that inside the dwelling a marijuana plantation was supposedly hidden.

In the search, the agents seized 1,132 marijuana plants in a state of growth and 1,085 grams of buds that were already prepared for their distribution. The seized drug, along with the estimated production, exceeds a value of 55,000 euros.

Facility prepared for intensive cultivation

The property had ventilation, refrigeration, and lighting systems intended for indoor cultivation. The electrical installation was tampered with, a circumstance that has also led to the charge for electricity fraud.

The police estimate places the fraud at around 40.000 euros. The detainee was linked to the plantation located at the home, while the investigation now focuses on clarifying all circumstances related to the activity detected in the Santa Bàrbara home.
