A multiple accident between a tanker truck, a van, and a car has complicated traffic this Holy Monday on the AP 7, in the municipality of Constantí and a few meters from the Tarragona exit. The accident occurred at kilometer 148.5 northbound and has left two drivers injured, initially with minor injuries.
The incident became known around 11:30 a.m., as reported by the Catalan Traffic Service. From that moment, the highway has registered significant queues on a particularly sensitive stretch due to Easter Week travel.
The truck remained across in the inside lane
The accident occurred when the truck impacted the side of the van and ended up stopped in the inner lane of the AP 7, to the point of completely blocking passage at that point. The van, for its part, was displaced to the left and ended up outside the three lanes, already on the shoulder.
The truck suffered damage to the front and the van to the side area. The involved car presented few damages.
Two slightly injured and very slow traffic
Two drivers were apparently slightly injured in the crash. While their transfer was being managed and tasks were being organized to remove the larger vehicles, traffic could be maintained slowly through the two lanes that remained operational.
The retentions were prolonged for more than five hours. The removal of the tanker truck, immobilized in the inner lane, was one of the necessary actions to be able to reestablish circulation normally.
Investigation open into the previous maneuver
The exact circumstances of the accident are under investigation, although one of the hypotheses being worked with suggests that it could have originated from a dangerous maneuver during an overtaking. The investigation must now determine how the impact sequence occurred on this stretch of the AP 7 at the height of Constantí.
