Two vegetation fires declared this Saturday almost simultaneously in Vilallonga del Camp have burned 8.9 hectares of agricultural land on a day of high temperatures. The Bombers de la Generalitat mobilized eight ground crews and a helicopter to control both fires.

The first fire affected one hectare of crops, while the second devastated 7.9 hectares in the same area shortly after. The difference between the two outbreaks has been the focus of the initial investigations, as the first points to a possible burning of waste and the second has opened an investigation to clarify both the cause and the identity of the person responsible.

The second fire burned 7.9 hectares after a first fire of one hectare

The two fires were declared with little time difference in Vilallonga del Camp and only affected agricultural land. The combined total brings the burned area to 8.9 hectares of crops.

In the first of the fires, initial investigations place the origin in a possible burning of waste. Shortly after, a second outbreak occurred in the same area, with a much larger impact, which has led to the opening of proceedings to determine what caused it.

For now, the operation has not detected any personal injuries and the flames did not reach forest areas. That limit prevented the fire from spreading beyond the affected agricultural environment.

Bombers deployed eight crews and a helicopter on a day of high temperatures

The extinguishing device worked with eight ground crews and a helicopter to stabilize the two fires. The action focused on preventing the spread of flames between crop fields in Vilallonga del Camp.

Throughout the intervention, high temperatures marked the working conditions on the ground. Even so, the personnel managed to control the two fires without them reaching forest mass.

The investigation remains particularly focused on the second fire, which alone affected 7.9 hectares of crops and has prompted the opening of proceedings to identify its cause and the person responsible.
