A motorcyclist has died this Wednesday early in the morning after a traffic accident with a car on the N 340 at the height of La Canonja, in the direction of Tarragona. The accident occurred at kilometer point 1156.5 and the emergency call was received at 6:21 AM.
The collision was a rear-end collision between a car and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was riding alone. After the impact, the victim was attended to at the scene by emergency services and transferred to the hospital with serious injuries, although ultimately his life could not be saved.
Investigation opened by the Mossos
The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the causes of the accident to clarify how the collision occurred. Two units of the Bombers de la Generalitat also moved to the area to intervene in the emergency operation.
Affectations in circulation
As a consequence of the accident, the road was cut off in both directions of the N 340. The incident caused traffic jams in the vicinity of La Canonja while assistance tasks, emergency management, and the removal of the vehicles involved were carried out.
The accident again generated mobility complications early in the morning in one of the road accesses of the Tarragona area, with the road affected during the operation of the teams dispatched to the scene.
