An accident between two trucks on the AP 7 at the height of L'Ampolla, in Baix Ebre, has caused retentions this Monday, April 20, in the northbound direction. The incident was registered at 14:10 hours and, although it forced the closure of one lane for several hours, it was minor and only left material damages.
The two drivers involved do not present significant injuries. The Servei Català de Trànsit has informed that the incident has occurred in the direction of Tarragona and Barcelona, where the queues have concentrated while work was being done to remove the vehicles and condition the road.
More than six hours of disruption on the highway
Traffic has been conditioned for a good part of the afternoon. The affected lane was not reopened until after 8:00 PM, once the road cleaning work was finished.
After that first reopening, traffic on one of the two lanes was maintained until after 8:30 PM, in a period in which the highway continued operating with limitations while the passage of vehicles was normalized.
Material damages and without injuries of consideration
The rear-end collision between the two trucks has resulted in no serious injuries. Trànsit has specified that the accident was minor and that there are no further personal injuries, beyond the material damages derived from the collision.
The incident has been resolved by late afternoon, after a few hours of heavy traffic on this stretch of the AP 7 as it passes through L'Ampolla, one of the usual transit points for heavy vehicles in the south of Catalonia.
