The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 33-year-old man on Thursday night in the metropolitan area of Llobregat for his alleged involvement in the violent death of a man in a farmhouse in Reus. With this arrest, there are now three individuals detained for events that occurred on Saturday on a property where investigators place the origin of the crime in a conflict over the occupation and payment of the dwelling.
The paradox of the case lies in that starting point. The investigation points to a dispute over the use of the house and payments linked to the stay in the farmhouse, but the victim was found with signs of violence and, according to initial inquiries, tied hand and foot after an assault in which he tried to defend himself.
The Mossos place the origin of the crime in a dispute over the dwelling
The events occurred on Saturday around two in the afternoon, when officers responded to the farmhouse in Reus after receiving a report of a fight. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of a man with signs of violence inside the property.
The investigation, led by the Criminal Investigation Division and remaining under summary secrecy, links the death to a conflict over the occupation and payment of the dwelling. That is, for now, the main focus of inquiries that also seek to specify the role each detainee played during the assault.
According to the investigations, one of the arrested individuals asked for help from other people to intimidate the victim and try to expel him from the property. This aspect connects the new arrest made in Llobregat with the two men arrested on the same Saturday at the farmhouse.
Two detainees entered prison and the third was caught in Llobregat
At the scene, the Mossos arrested two men, aged 46 and 79, who attempted to flee. After being brought before the judicial authorities, a court ordered provisional communication and bail-free detention for both for a crime of murder.
The police added a third arrest on Thursday night with the detention of a 33-year-old man in the metropolitan area of Llobregat. Investigators consider him allegedly involved in events that remain under summary secrecy.
The first investigations also point to the victim being tied up hand and foot when she was attacked. The Mossos have also confirmed that one of the first detainees had injuries compatible with a fight, a detail that fits with the resistance that, according to the investigation, the victim put up during the attack.
The man arrested this Thursday is 33 years old, while the other two detainees for the crime are 46 and 79 years old.
