An elderly man suffered a violent robbery early Saturday, May 9, on Catalunya Avenue in Palamós, when an attacker assaulted him and took his mobile phone and the money he was carrying in his wallet. The victim, who was under the influence of alcohol, had to be taken to Palamós hospital for his injuries.
The aggression left a nasal fracture and the breaking of two dental pieces. The case was resolved in two days thanks to the security cameras of a business in the area, which allowed the Mossos d'Esquadra to identify the suspect after a woman alerted the Local Police of Palamós.

The events occurred around 2:30 a.m. on one of the main roads in the municipality. A woman alerted the Local Police of Palamós, whose officers arrived at the scene a few minutes after the attack.
The recording from the security cameras proved key to the investigation. From those images, the investigators of the Mossos d'Esquadra were able to identify and locate the alleged perpetrator of the robbery.
The victim entered the Palamós hospital after the assault and was later discharged. In addition to the mobile phone, the assailant took the money the victim kept in her wallet.
The Mossos arrested a 29-year-old man on Monday
The arrest took place on Monday morning. Agents from the Bisbal d'Empordà police station arrested the suspect, a 29-year-old man.
Accusations of robbery with violence and assault weigh upon him. The Mossos also attribute to him almost thirty accumulated police records, a fact that places the arrest in the context of a prior criminal record.
The detainee was to be brought before the judicial authorities in the hours following his arrest for a robbery committed on Catalunya Avenue in Palamós at 2:30 AM on Saturday, May 9.
