An accident between two passenger cars has forced the closure of the left lane of the A 7 in the section between Vila seca and La Canonja, in the Cambrils direction, after one of the vehicles ended up overturned on the roadway. The incident occurred in the middle of a traffic jam due to maintenance work on the highway.
Rear-end collision in an area with slow traffic
The crash occurred when a vehicle collided from behind with another in an area where traffic was already conditioned by road maintenance tasks. As a result of the impact, one of the cars overturned in the left lane, which complicated traffic at this point in Camp de Tarragona.
Two crews from the Generalitat Firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The emergency teams verified that there were no people trapped inside the involved cars.
Two minor injuries and traffic disruptions
The outcome of the accident resulted in two occupants slightly injured. The incident forced the left lane to remain closed while assistance and removal tasks of the damaged vehicle were carried out.
The lane could not be reopened until 15:00 hours, once the damaged vehicle was removed. During that time, traffic in the direction of Cambrils was conditioned in an especially sensitive stretch due to the accumulation of traffic derived from the maintenance works.
