The unions USTEC and Professors de Secundària have called off the strikes planned until Thursday while their membership votes on the pre-agreement reached with the Departament d'Educació i Formació Professional. The consultation will start on Monday at 12:00 PM and will close on Thursday.
The cancellation leaves only the general strike on Friday, June 5, pending the outcome of that vote, in a scenario of union division. USTEC maintains its support for the pact, while CGT and Intersindical Educació have already announced their rejection, and Professors de Secundària has opted to suspend the stoppages until the rank and file have their say.
The pre-agreement raises the salary supplement by 173 euros over four years
The main economic change in the text involves a salary supplement of 173 euros per month for teachers over a period of four years. This figure adds 50 euros to the initial proposal put forward in the negotiations.
The increase is not limited to that period. The combined calculation with the 30% increase in the specific supplement agreed in March with CCOO and UGT, and with state-wide increases, places the overall improvement at around 600 euros gross per month over four years.
Councilor Esther Niubó defended the pay scale of the agreement, stating that "Catalans will be among the best-paid teachers in the State."
Educació plans 6,300 provisions to strengthen inclusive education
The pre-agreement also incorporates 6,300 provisions for inclusive education. The plan is to provide all I3 groups with TEEI and to strengthen communication skills and language acquisition with MALL, CREDA, and speech therapists.
This block of measures accompanies the salary negotiation and concentrates another part of the debate among organizations. In recent weeks, the Catalan education system has already faced discussions about inclusive education in Catalonia, an area that is once again at the center of the pre-agreement.
For now, union alignment remains fragmented. USTEC is the only union that remains in favor of the text, while CGT and Intersindical Educació have communicated their negative vote before the start of the consultation.
The vote on the pre-agreement will begin on Monday at 12:00 PM, and its outcome will determine whether the general strike called for Friday, June 5, will proceed.
