The AP 7 maintains specific lane restrictions in the province of Tarragona due to several works distributed in three sections between El Vendrell and the border with the province of Castellón. The affected areas total 68.5 kilometers and correspond to repair, resurfacing, and fiber optic channeling works.
The shortest point is located in El Vendrell, at kilometer 220, where the asphalt is being repaired after the damage caused by a recent heavy vehicle accident. In that same place, a few days ago, a truck caught fire and kept one of the three lanes of the highway blocked for 24 hours in the northbound direction.
The removal of the truck left damage on the roadway and the workers are now working on its repair. The works at this point began on the afternoon of March 14 and, according to current forecasts, will finish throughout this same week.
Resurfacing in the vicinity of Tarragona
The second section with restrictions is located at the height of the entrance and exit of Tarragona. In this case, the works are carried out southbound and consist of the resurfacing of four kilometers between kilometer points 241 and 245.
It is a maintenance action within the state road network in the province, with direct impact on one of the most transited accesses in the Tarragona area.
Fiber optic works up to the limit with Castellón
The most extensive intervention affects the section between Vandellòs i l"Hospitalet de l"Infant and the border with Castellón, at kilometer 344 of the highway. 64 kilometers are under construction and the restrictions affect both directions of travel.
In this sector, the AP 7 has two lanes per direction and the actions correspond to the channeling of fiber optics. The works started at the beginning of the year and are being executed in phases with the aim of minimizing the impact on traffic.
Actions within the conservation of the state network
The three interventions are part of the conservation and improvement contracts of the state road network in the province of Tarragona, promoted by the Ministry of Transport.
The sum of these actions maintains several points of the AP 7 with temporary lane limitations in a wide corridor of southern Catalonia, from El Vendrell to the provincial border with Castellón.
