The Mossos d'Esquadra and the Civil Guard have dismantled a criminal group specialized in aggravated robberies in jewelries using the ram-raid method, with operations also in La Sénia and Flix. The operation has concluded with six detainees aged between 27 and 60, to whom 27 crimes committed between November 2025 and March 2026 are attributed.

The investigation has been jointly taken over by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Mossos and the Civil Guard, as part of a coordinated operation in different demarcations of Spain. The investigators detected a common pattern in the hits, all of them executed with the same modus operandi and directed against jewelry stores.

Rapid strikes and high-power vehicles

The group allegedly carried out a prior surveillance phase on the establishments before acting. Afterwards, the perpetrators committed the assaults with their faces hidden and using gloves. To access the businesses, they used high-powered vehicles, in many cases stolen or with manipulated license plates, which they rammed against the premises.

After the impact, they stole high-value jewelry and watches in just a few minutes, while other members watched the surroundings to facilitate the escape. The total value of the stolen jewelry, the vehicles used, and the damages caused approaches one million euros.

Actions in Tarragona and in other provinces

In addition to the events investigated in the Tarragona demarcation, the group allegedly acted in municipalities of Castellón, Toledo, Teruel, Madrid and Almería. In Tarragona territory, the investigators place their activity in the towns of La Sénia and Flix.

Part of the stolen material was sold immediately in buy-sell establishments, an outlet that hindered the recovery of the stolen objects and complicated the tracking of the pieces.

Searches in Castelló, Madrid and Toledo

The final phase of the operation was carried out on March 17, when the police forces conducted five entries and searches in homes and one more in a gold and jewelry buying and selling establishment. The actions were carried out in the provinces of Castelló, Madrid and Toledo.

In those searches, items from the robberies and other elements considered relevant for the investigation were seized. The arrested individuals are charged with crimes of belonging to a criminal group, robberies with force, vehicle thefts, theft, document forgery, and receiving stolen goods.

Four of the six detainees have entered prison by order of investigating court number 4 of Castelló de la Plana, while the investigation remains open to specify the total scope of the activity attributed to the group.
