The AP 7 has registered this Friday two accidents in the midst of the Easter Holy Week departure operation, one in Altafulla and another in Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant, on a day marked by high mobility and traffic jams on the main road axis towards the south of Catalonia.

The most relevant accident has occurred at kilometer 233 of the AP 7, in Altafulla and in the Tarragona direction, where three cars and a truck have collided. The alert was received at 5:58 PM and, according to the Catalan Traffic Service, the balance is two minor injuries.

The incident has caused queues of up to 12 kilometers on this stretch of the highway. As the minutes passed, the affected lanes have been reopened and traffic has normalized.

Another crash in Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant

A few minutes later, at 18:03, a second accident was registered at kilometer 285 of the AP 7, in Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant and in the direction of Castellón. In this case it was a rear-end collision between two passenger cars.

The first reports indicate that there have been no injuries. The affected lane has also been able to reopen and traffic has returned to normal at this point.

The AP 7 concentrates the main retentions

The day has coincided with the first phase of the Easter getaway operation. Between 12:00 and 20:00 this Friday, 253,000 vehicles have left the Barcelona metropolitan area, a figure that is equivalent to 44% of the 580,000 displacements foreseen until 15:00 on Saturday.

The Catalan Traffic Service has indicated that the AP 7 has concentrated most of the traffic jams during the first hours of the operation. Despite this, beyond these two accidents, no significant incidents have been registered on the Catalan road network at the start of this long weekend.
