The leader of the Popular Party in the Lérida City Council, Xavi Palau, held a strategic meeting with the rector of the University of Lérida, Maria Àngels Balsells. The meeting focused on the integration of the Turó de Gardeny into the urban and academic dynamics of the city.
The initiative is included in the new Municipal Urban Planning Plan, which the plenary sessions initially approved last Friday. This document marks the roadmap to transform the area into an educational and business benchmark.
Gardeny aspires to be a growth pole
The urban development project contemplates substantially improving the connection of the Turó with the rest of the urban fabric. The developers seek to promote the establishment of new companies and drive a first-class educational hub.
"Gardeny must not only be a heritage and landscape space, but also a hub of growth and opportunities for Lérida." - Xavi Palau, head of the municipal opposition
Palau detailed its intention to connect the agents present in the area with university educational facilities. The goal is to establish effective synergies between both sectors to maximize the potential of the enclave.
Talent Attraction Through Research
The proposal will involve attracting talent to the city. New opportunities will be generated directly linked to higher education and research activity.
The new POUM will soon be put on public display. This procedure will allow residents and entities to submit the allegations they deem appropriate before the definitive consolidation of the plan.
Once this consultation period concludes, the provisional approval of the document will be processed. The administration expects to close this administrative phase by the end of the year.
