A 50-year-old French driver suffered minor injuries when a hail of stones hit his vehicle on the N-230. The incident took place yesterday at 8:19 a.m. at kilometer 116.1 of the road near El Pont de Suert.
The force of the impact shattered the front windshield and blew out one of the tires. This breakdown caused the car to lose control and end up leaving the roadway.
The Firefighters mobilized a crew from El Pont de Suert to assist the affected person at the scene of the incident. Health personnel attended to the injured person on site before transferring them by ambulance to the hospital in Vielha.
A road with a history of landslides
This area is no stranger to this type of accident. In August 2019, a similar incident was recorded where another driver was injured by the impact of rocks.

The local administrations of the territories through which the road runs have been demanding structural solutions for some time. The situation has worsened this year due to the heavy rains that have multiplied landslides on roads in Lleida.
These meteorological phenomena have forced numerous emergency actions to be carried out to guarantee transitability. The instability of the terrain continues to be a constant threat to the users of this infrastructure.
Three injured in van rollover in Organyà
The road journey in Lleida left more serious incidents. Three people were slightly injured when a van overturned on the C-14 road as it passed through Organyà.
The accident occurred at 1:10 PM and forced the closure of traffic for almost an hour. Kilometric traffic jams affected drivers traveling through the area during those hours.
Patrols of the regional police went to the scene along with three fire crews and two SEM ambulances. Emergency services worked to free the occupants and secure the area.
Two adults and one minor were evacuated to the hospital of La Seu d'Urgell to receive medical attention. All of them presented a mild prognosis after the scare.
Motorcyclist falls in the afternoon
The afternoon registered two more incidents involving motorcyclists. A motorcyclist was injured after falling on the N-141F road near Les Oluges.
Another two-wheeled driver suffered a fall on the road that connects Barbens with Tornabous. Both cases add to the list of incidents that overwhelmed emergency services during the day.
