The Generalitat has launched a new line of aid of 5 million euros to rehabilitate homes in rural municipalities of Lleida. The announcement was made yesterday by the director general of Housing, Jordi Mas, before about twenty mayors of the demarcation, with a plan aimed at municipalities benefiting from the Rural Municipality Statute, individuals and cooperatives.
The call seeks to mobilize empty housing and expand the affordable offer in the rural area. In the case of individuals, those who use an empty apartment in a rural municipality as their own home or for a family member will be able to access these aids. Also, those who allocate unoccupied properties for rent through housing pools.
Grants for municipalities, individuals and cooperatives
The Govern's line establishes different sections depending on the applicant. Individuals may receive between 10,000 and 20,000 euros. The cooperatives in these municipalities, or those that have a transfer of use and undertake the rehabilitation, may request between 25,000 and 40,000 euros. Local councils, for their part, may request between 40,000 and 70,000 euros.
In this call from the Government, the purchase of properties is not included. The objective focuses on the rehabilitation of the already existing park to put housing into use and reinforce the availability of affordable housing in towns with smaller populations.
Compatible with the line announced by the Provincial Council
The announcement comes a week after the Provincial Council presented another line of aid, in that case of 3.5 million euros, to promote the availability of housing in municipalities at risk of depopulation. That other call may be allocated to the purchase, construction, rehabilitation or improvement of properties for social rental of primary residence.
The contribution of the Provincial Council will cover a maximum of 90% of the total cost of each action, with coverage of up to 95% in the smallest rural municipalities. The maximum amount will be 100,000 euros.
"They are totally compatible, and as they are aimed at the generation of affordable housing, they can be added together and will allow subsidizing 100% of the actions in Lleida" - Jordi Mas, Director General of Housing of the Generalitat
La Generalitat plans to maintain the program
The Government plans to repeat this initiative in the coming years. The plan is to consolidate a support tool for rural municipalities to recover empty housing and facilitate both the rooting of population and access to affordable rent in the territory.
