The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating the violent assault suffered this Friday by a 76-year-old resident in Arbeca, in the region of Les Garrigues. The alert reached the Catalan police around 10:00 AM for a possible violent robbery in a house in the municipality.

The victim, according to the information known until now, was attacked by two unknown individuals, who allegedly tied her up in the yard of one of her properties. The assailants stole her keys and mobile phone.

The authors would have gone afterwards to the home of the man

After the aggression, the alleged thieves would have moved to the neighbor's home. The exact sequence of events remains under investigation and, for now, no more details have emerged about what they could have taken nor about how they accessed the home.

It was some neighbors who located the man when he was asking for help. From that moment, attention to the affected person was activated, who presented injuries and had to be transferred to the CAP de les Borges Blanques to receive medical assistance.

Investigation open in Les Garrigues

The ABP Pla Garrigues Investigation Unit has taken charge of the proceedings to identify the perpetrators and clarify the circumstances of the event. At the time of this information, no persons were detained.

The investigation remains open in Arbeca while the Mossos work to determine both the authorship of the assault as well as the causes that surrounded this violent episode.
