The Mossos d'Esquadra of the Cervera police station arrested a 23-year-old man last Monday as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health. The operation culminated in the seizure of more than 700 grams of narcotics hidden in a rental vehicle.
Control on the L-303
The events took place around 1 p.m. in the municipal district of Plans de Sió. The officers had set up a checkpoint on the L-303 road when they decided to intercept a rental car. As they approached the driver, they immediately noticed a strange attitude. It was clear nervousness that caught the attention of the officers.
The young man justified his state by stating that he had to continue driving because he was in a great hurry. The Mossos proceeded to identify him and check his details. They found that the driver had recent priors for crimes against public health. This information, combined with the fact that he was driving a rental vehicle, raised the level of suspicion about possible drug trafficking.
Finding under the seats
Initially, a body search of the driver revealed nothing unusual. However, officers decided to thoroughly search the interior of the car. Attention focused on the rear area where they observed that the back seat was slightly dislodged. Upon examining the area more calmly, they lifted the seat platform.
Under the structure they found a package wrapped in plastic with small packets of cocaine. They also located another package with hashish in the same space. The total quantity seized amounted to 200 grams of cocaine and 500 grams of hashish. The value of these substances exceeds 15,000 euros.
In addition to the narcotic, the Mossos found in the trunk a license plate that did not correspond to the registered vehicle. This detail added elements to the investigation into the organization of the act. The detainee was transferred to police facilities and subsequently brought before the court at the duty Investigating Court of Cervera.
