The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating two robberies committed during the early hours of yesterday in two livestock farms in Artesa de Lleida, where copper cables and other material disappeared. The assaults add to other recent cases in pig farms and agricultural properties in the Segrià region, with damaged facilities and part of the activity compromised.

The sequence has created a paradox in the sector. Farms need to keep basic systems such as heating, water, or electricity supply running, but the robberies are concentrated precisely on these essential elements and force owners to pay for urgent repairs to continue working.

Carol Aixut recounts that she already suffered another robbery in March

Carol Aixut, a victim of one of the robberies and a member of the National Permanent Commission of Unió de Pagesos, explained that the thieves entered her farm in the early hours of the morning and ripped out part of the installation. In her case, they stole the heating, cables, iron, and other materials.

"They entered this morning and ripped out the heating installation and cables and took iron and other material. We already suffered a similar robbery last March" - Carol Aixut, member of the National Permanent Commission of Unió de Pagesos

Aixut also expressed the feeling of vulnerability with which those affected coexist. In parallel to the robberies detected in Artesa de Lleida, the union has warned of recent incidents in several pig farms and agricultural properties in other towns in the Segrià region.

In these assaults, the perpetrators have taken solar panels, batteries, electrical wiring, and water pressure pumps. The theft of this material renders the facilities unusable and transfers the cost of replacing equipment to the owners to maintain their activity.

Unió de Pagesos requests reports so that the Mossos prioritize personnel

Unió de Pagesos demands that those affected report all robberies to have an accurate statistic of the problem. The union believes that this record can help the Mossos d'Esquadra reinforce police priority on the agricultural and rural sector.

Furthermore, the organization asks the police to control the traceability of the stolen materials to hinder their sale in illegal markets. This request affects both copper and other elements that have disappeared in recent days from farms in the Segrià region.

In parallel, the union holds periodic coordination meetings with the Mossos d'Esquadra. This joint work has made it possible to enable the collection of complaints in situ to speed up their processing.

In one of the affected farms, Carol Aixut also stated that she had already suffered a similar robbery last March.
