The renewable transition driven by the Generalitat leaves energy decisions in the hands of private developers in Lleida

The Watt del Corb cooperative promotes allegations to the Plater. They warn that the text lacks mechanisms to meet the 2050 goals and could cede energy control to private developers in the area.

Verdú hosted a day yesterday driven by the energy community Watt del Corb to analyze with residents, entities, and municipalities of the Vall del Corb the imbalances that, in their opinion, the Territorial Sector Plan for the deployment of renewable energies, known as Plater, introduces.

The core of the meeting was a paradox that the cooperative considers central. While the Generalitat de Catalunya promotes the plan to favor solar and wind projects, the text does not incorporate, according to Toti Obiols, president of Watt del Corb, real mechanisms that oblige compliance with the energy generation quotas set for 2050.

Obiols requested allegations because the plan does not establish compliance mechanisms for 2050

During the day, Obiols maintained that the cooperative does not reject the initiative of the Generalitat de Catalunya to accelerate renewable deployment, but it does demand adjustments in its wording. In this context, he encouraged attendees to submit allegations during the processing.

Furthermore, he linked this lack of mandatory instruments with the risk of maintaining the current model. In his opinion, the plan may leave the weight of decisions in the hands of private developers and favor new initiatives being concentrated again in Lleida.

Obiols placed this criticism in a broader context. He explained that, at a time when Europe is increasingly reducing its decarbonization targets, the Plater does not guarantee by itself that the generation quotas planned for 2050 will be executed.

Saladié explained the impact on the Vall del Corb and Cotrina focused the day on the administrative route

Sergi Saladié, geographer and professor at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, detailed during the session how the Plater affects the Vall del Corb. His intervention focused on the concrete consequences that the document may have on this territory.

Afterwards, lawyer Marta Cotrina focused the most practical part of the day on the administrative process. She explained to attendees how to submit allegations with more chances of success and which strategies are most useful within that route.

The event brought together residents, entities, and municipal representatives from the Vall del Corb in Verdú in a session organized by Watt del Corb to prepare allegations to the Plater.
