The Court of Lleida will judge on May 19 a 24-year-old man for whom the Prosecutor's Office requests 24 years and eight months in prison for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 21-year-old young woman in the city in November 2023.
The indictment places the beginning of the events in the Segon Passeig de Ronda and extends them to Pardinyes and an area near the camí de Grenyana, in l'Horta de Lleida. The prosecution maintains that the victim tried to escape even with the van in motion, but did not manage to get out until after the alleged rape.

The public ministry attributes to the accused the crimes of illegal detention, sexual assault with penetration, robbery with violence and intimidation, and minor injuries. The sum of the requested sentences reaches 24 years and eight months in prison.
According to the prosecution, the man was driving a van along the Segon Passeig de Ronda, chased the young woman, and forced her to get into the vehicle by force. He then drove towards the Pardinyes neighborhood and the area around the camí de Grenyana.
During that journey, always according to the Prosecutor's Office's version, the accused hit and insulted her. The young woman tried to escape from the moving vehicle and even tried to turn the steering wheel, although she did not manage to flee at that moment.
The prosecution adds that, in a secluded area of l'Horta de Lleida, the accused physically assaulted her again and raped her. Later, when the young woman managed to get out of the van, he knocked her down again and took her mobile phone when she was trying to ask for help.

The young woman finally managed to escape and ask for help from several people near a hermitage. It was those people who alerted the emergency services.
The investigation led the Mossos d'Esquadra to the l'Horta de Lleida area, where they arrested the suspect on November 18, 2023. Later, the judge ordered his provisional detention without bail.
In addition to the prison sentence, the Prosecutor's Office requests a restraining order of 300 meters from the victim. The indictment also breaks down the sentences for each crime, with five years and eight months for illegal detention, 15 years for sexual assault with penetration, and four years for robbery with violence and intimidation.
In the civil liability section, the public prosecutor claims compensation of 16,150 euros for moral damages, injuries, and the stolen mobile phone.
