The Paeria de Lleida has approved new calls to reinforce the staff of the Guardia Urbana with positions intended for both commanders and active agents. The objective is to expand the municipal staff and consolidate **a staff of about 250 agents**. The calls will be published immediately to start the selection process.
Five categories with positions for internal promotion
The council has opened five differentiated groups to cover operational and coordination needs. In total, twelve permanent positions have been planned among management and base personnel. The detail of the calls includes the following categories
- Two inspection positions
- Two sub-inspection positions
- Four sergeant positions through internal promotion
- Four corporal positions through internal promotion
- Four initial open-turn positions
Municipal officials have left the door open to expanding the open-turn positions to twelve units if retirements and internal promotions require it during the process. This flexibility seeks to adjust the real offer to the operational needs of the Lleida police force.
Technological Reinforcement and Other Municipal Hires
In addition to the staff expansion, the municipal government wants to modernize the available resources. The governing board has also approved new technical positions in areas such as architecture, engineering, and law to strengthen other municipal services. These additions are part of a global strategy to improve local public services.
The approved measures respond to the institutional will to have a more prepared police force with greater response capacity to current citizen security challenges. The new officers could join the force in the coming months once the corresponding administrative procedures are completed.
