The volunteer firefighters of Àger located on Saturday the lifeless body of a man at the bottom of a ravine in Montsec, in an area of difficult access. Next to the corpse, a vehicle was also found with damage compatible with a fall from the top of the ravine.
The discovery occurred during the operation deployed for another fatal accident on the same mountain, after a 67-year-old Argentine paraglider died after falling near the usual take-off area of Montsec. The Mossos d'Esquadra are now investigating the specific circumstances of the death of the man found in the ravine.
The second discovery occurred during the operation for the paraglider's death
The body was located while emergency teams were working in Montsec due to the paragliding accident registered in Àger. In that accident, a 67-year-old man of Argentine nationality died after falling near the usual take-off area.
It was during that same operation that the volunteer firefighters of Àger found another body at the bottom of a ravine with complicated access. A few meters away, the teams detected an crashed vehicle, with damage from a fall from the upper part of the area.
The Mossos are investigating how the car fell into the Montsec ravine
The ongoing investigation must clarify what happened before the vehicle ended up at the bottom of the ravine and what the exact sequence of events was. For now, the Mossos d'Esquadra have not specified the concrete circumstances of the death.
The volunteer firefighters of Àger intervened in the operation in an environment of special difficulty due to the relief of Montsec.
