The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested two men between Thursday and Friday in Secà de Sant Pere, in Lleida, in two operations for crimes against public health that ended with the seizure of cocaine prepared for sale and a marijuana plantation.

The main operation started due to a point of sale of cocaine for retail, but the surveillance of the property under investigation also led to a second, unplanned arrest. During the surveillance, agents detected a strong smell of marijuana in a nearby building and located another criminal activity in the same area.

The investigation began in March, after the Mossos received information about a man who allegedly sold drugs in the Secà de Sant Pere neighborhood. From there, agents deployed surveillance devices to verify the activity.

During that surveillance, the police detected 16 retail cocaine sales. The transactions were carried out both on public roads and in a premises near the investigated point.

On Thursday, the Mossos arrested the main suspect, a 32-year-old man. On Friday morning, the search of his home led to the seizure of 44 grams of rock cocaine prepared for distribution.

While a patrol was guarding the property related to the first investigation, agents detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from a nearby building. This circumstance led to the identification of the owner of one of the apartments, a 52-year-old man.

The man admitted that he had a plantation in his home. With his consent, the Mossos accessed the apartment and located 35 marijuana plants inside the residence.

The agents arrested him for a crime against public health. In addition, there was an arrest and presentation warrant against him issued by a court in Cantabria.

The two arrested individuals will soon be brought before the duty court in Lleida.
