Dino Marcello Miller, 56, was arrested on Friday in Lleida hours after attempting to assault a supermarket on Baró de Maials street, in the Pardinyes neighborhood, armed with a replica gun. The Guardia Urbana located him in Balàfia, a few days after he had been released from Ponent prison.

The new arrest came after a release that had already triggered police surveillance. The Prosecutor's Office had ordered the Mossos d'Esquadra to closely monitor his first weeks of freedom since April 16, after on his previous release from prison, at the end of 2020, he reoffended and ended up arrested again on April 23, 2021, for two violent assaults in supermarkets.

The Prosecutor's Office ordered him to be monitored after his release from Ponent on April 16

Miller had left Ponent prison after serving a sentence for two violent robberies. Before that, he had already been sentenced to 60 years in prison for two murders and one attempted homicide.

His record includes the confession he made in 2002 about the murder of former police officer Josep Gilart. He admitted to having received the equivalent of 18,000 euros and 100 grams of cocaine for killing him in the victim's bar, in Barcelona. Gilart died two years later, after becoming quadriplegic.

In addition, he also killed a police officer during a bank robbery and another man. After his first release, law enforcement agencies considered him a high-risk inmate and he was arrested again months later for two new robberies with violence.

Vicenç Alujas stated that there were many possibilities of recidivism

During his time in prison, Miller maintained contact with Vicenç Alujas, a psychologist and sociologist who treated him at Brians prison, in Sant Esteve de Sesrovires.

"He is a top-category psychopath. He has an antisocial disorder, with zero empathy. He is not rehabilitated simply because he does not want to be, so there is a high probability that he will reoffend" - Vicenç Alujas, psychologist and sociologist

Friday's attempted robbery occurred in Pardinyes and ended the same day in Balàfia, where a municipal patrol arrested him. The sequence repeats the pattern that had already followed after his previous release from prison, when he regained his freedom and was arrested again a few months later.

Miller's last release occurred on April 16 from Ponent prison, and the new attempted assault occurred less than two weeks later at a supermarket on Baró de Maials street.
