Several former students of the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona accuse a cello professor, currently a councilor in a municipality in Lleida, of abuse and sexual harassment during his teaching tenure at the center. The testimonies place the events in the classroom, in his vehicle, and also through WhatsApp messages sent during and after the academic period.
One of the points of contention in the case is the internal handling of the complaint. One of the affected individuals states that she reported what happened to a department head at the Conservatori del Liceu, who told her he would inform the management, but she received no response and the center had no record of any written complaint.
Two former students report groping in the classroom and an attempted kiss in the car
At least two former students claim that the teacher groped them in the classroom and tried to kiss them in his vehicle approximately ten years ago. The accusations involve a cello professor who also presides over a foundation that organizes courses and a music festival.
Another woman adds a second channel of contact. She recounts that the professor sent her nude photographs via WhatsApp during and after her studies, and also claims that a student sent him her own images after insistence and pressure.
The case affects a center in Barcelona and also extends to the institutional sphere in Lleida, where the professor currently holds the position of councilor. As of now, there is no judicial resolution regarding the reported incidents.
The professor denies the accusations and states that no one communicated them to him at the conservatory
The teacher rejects the allegations and maintains that he had not previously received any communication about these accusations. In his response, he also emphasizes his long association with the Barcelona center.
"This is the first time I have received information about the existence of accusations against me. I was a professor at the conservatory between 1987 and 2025 and I have been retired for one academic year. The accusations were not communicated to me, neither in the current academic year nor in previous academic years, by the responsible parties or by the students" - accused cello professor
His version clashes with the account of one of the former students, who claims to have informed a department head at the Conservatori del Liceu about the events. That affected individual states that the official told her he would forward the information to the center's management.
After that contact, he received no response, and the conservatory had no written complaint registered. The professor claims he taught classes between 1987 and 2025 and that he retired a year ago.
The Lleida city council where he is a councilor is studying whether to adopt measures
The dimension of the case has also reached the Lleida municipality where the teacher serves as a councilor. The city council is already aware of the information and is analyzing whether it should take any measures in relation to his public office.
For now, the municipal institution has not specified what action it may take. The most precise information communicated so far is that the council is studying whether it should adopt measures after learning of the accusations against the councilor.
