A woman suffered a stroke on Monday, May 18, in the morning and was first attended at the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova de Lleida before being transferred by helicopter to the Vall d'Hebron hospital, where a team of Neuroradiología Vascular Intervencionista intervened urgently.
The care sequence was activated after her husband's call to 112 and mobilized a coordinated response from the SEM in an emergency in which the speed of care proved decisive in saving her life.
The SEM activated the transfer between Lleida and the Vall d'Hebron
The patient received the first care in Lleida, at the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova, shortly after suffering the stroke. From there, the healthcare device organized her referral to the Barcelona hospital to continue treatment.
Afterwards, the transfer was carried out by helicopter to the Vall d'Hebron. The urgent intervention was left in the hands of the center's Neuroradiología Vascular Intervencionista team.
The urgent intervention in Barcelona saved her life
Already in the Vall d'Hebron, the Neuroradiología Vascular Intervencionista team intervened urgently and saved her life. The patient thanked the performance of the professionals who participated in the entire care chain.
She also highlighted the work of the SEM, both of the healthcare professionals who attended her and of the coordination device activated after the call to 112. In that gratitude, she included the initial care received at the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova de Lleida, which she considered crucial.
In her message, the patient emphasized that the urgent intervention in the Vall d'Hebron allowed her to remain alive and stated that thanks to that medical team she can continue enjoying the people she loves.
