A man died this Saturday at noon in a paragliding accident near the takeoff area of Àger, in the region of La Noguera. Emergency services received the alert at 12:58 PM and mobilized a large operation to the site.
The intervention did not manage to save him even though assistance began before the arrival of the health teams. A nurse who was in the area initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers and then the SEM continued them, without success.
The alert mobilized a helicopter, GRAE, and three SEM ambulances
The operation involved the helicopter of the Mitjans Aeris unit, members of the GRAE from La Seu d'Urgell, an SEM doctor, three SEM ambulances, the Mountain Intervention Unit, and two Mossos d'Esquadra patrols.
The accident occurred in the vicinity of Àger, one of the usual spots for paragliding in Catalonia. The teams activated after the alert call received at 12:58 PM traveled there.
